Functional Freeze: When Survival Becomes A Pattern
Many of us have learned how to keep going while feeling disconnected from ourselves. We work, care for others, and appear “fine” on the outside, while something inside feels shut down.
This is often called functional freeze—a nervous system adaptation that can develop when, as children, our natural emotional responses weren’t safe to express.
In this video, I explore how incomplete emotional experiences can become what I describe as trapped energy or energy blocks, shaping the patterns we carry into adulthood. Together, we’ll discover why healing isn’t about forcing emotions or reliving the past, but about gradually building the capacity to stay present as the nervous system begins to feel safe.
Healing isn’t about doing more.
Sometimes it’s about creating enough safety for what was once interrupted to continue its natural movement toward completion.
