Meeting Difficult Emotions With Gentle Alive Attention
Inspired by Buddhist teacher Rob Burbea, this meditation explores how we might meet difficult emotions with gentle, alive attention. Rather than trying to get rid of an emotion, understand it, or make ourselves feel differently, we’re invited to become curious about the experience itself — noticing its sensations, qualities, and movement in the body. The practice is not about forcing ourselves to stay with something overwhelming. It is an invitation to experiment with bringing softness and aliveness to what is here, while also allowing awareness to widen to include the breath, the body, sounds, and the space around us. There is nothing to achieve and no particular state to reach. You can always pause, open your eyes, move, or step back.
